Shoemoney’s (sneaky) SEO tactics

I’m sure that the few people that actually read this blog remember many of Jeremy Schoemaker’s (Shomoney’s) rantings on SEO.

Our first example

There’s a blog (I believe called: SEOnewbs) that commented how Shoemoney should change his catchy title:

Skills to pay the bills

…to something people would actually search.  Then, after a rant on how he sees no point in SEO (obvious need for linkbait and attention), he managed to change his site title to:

Internet Marketing skills to pay the bills

Since then, he’s changed his title a zillion times.

Our 2nd little example

Now, I don’t know how long he’s managed to have the following meta description, but it appears as if there’s some type of correlation.  On his blog (as of 9:04 AM, Sept. 18th, 2008), we find:

<meta name=“description” content=Internet Marketing Blog By Jeremy Schoemaker” />

As you might be able to tell, I’m building up to something. ;)

Shoemoney’s little backlinks

If you’re subscribed to Shoemoney’s blog (via RSS), you may be able to tell that he’s injected some nice anchor text into all of his blog posts.

Now, the green underlined link might just mean he’s sick of autobloggers scraping his blog.  However, the red underlined text shows his actual intentions.

As a personal aside, I’ve never believed his linkbaitable comments where he says he’s “no professional SEO.” Hey Jeremy, are you kidding, your site, NextPimp, is on the second page of Google for “ringtones” — and it’s essentially a ringtone-affiliate site.
