Gigablast SEO and Gigaboost

Published by uGuX on December 12, 2007 07:14 pm under SEM (Search Engine Marketing), SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

gigablastMany people feel that the only search engines that are relevant are Google, Yahoo! and MSN (in that order), and those people aren’t real SEO-ers. Good marketing practices start off small.

Why Gigablast for SEO?

Although many people don’t directly go to Gigablast to search, many people still search it unknowingly. For example, Gigablast is the king in Metasearch — because they supply search feeds to most of the popular metasearch engines and other, smaller search engines:

  • Cnet
  • Snap.com
  • Mamma
  • Clusty
  • Eurekster
  • and a few others

SEO for Gigablast aka GigaBoost

Gigablast’s refining tactics are fairly similar to the other large search engines (i.e., links, keyword density, etc.). However, they still offer what they call a GigaBoost when you link to them at gigablast.com. Here’s an example link they provided:
<a href="http://www.gigablast.com/">Search the Web</a>
You can also add a Gigablast search box to your site, instead, for the GigaBoost:
<form method="get" action="http://www.gigablast.com/search">
<input type="text" name="q" size="40">
<input type="submit" value="search" border="0">
</form>

If you wanted to have a search box on your site that only searched your site, you can visit the page here. The GigaBoost works by giving you a position boost when they feel your site and one of your competitor’s sites ranks at the same location — meaning that you and your competition have a tie.

After adding the link, make sure you click the “Add a URL” link on their homepage so they’ll know to boost your rankings.  BTW, you may have noticed that this post links to Gigablast as well — that should help this blog as well. :)

PS: I emailed Gigablast, and asked if they’d supply some more SEO tips (since they don’t supply much on their website), but they haven’t responded yet.
